Re: antivirus software for vista?
Kaspersky's AV program is now Vista compatible and works perfectly. I don't
use anything other than that on my computers. Very small footprint even
playing games is unaffected and one of the best, if not the best detection
rates of any AV program. One of the best little known AV software companies
available. They offer a free trial at:

I did an upgrade installation of Vista and downloaded the free upgrade to
the Vista version of Norton AntiVirus 2007. It worked, but was really slow
and made starting up very slow, and it has a reputation for slowing down
systems. I ended up re-doing my installation as a clean install because of
some other slowness issues and took the opportunity to switch to NOD32, for
which the latest version works fine with Vista.

What was wrong with Avast? It might only be free, but it works.

Nothing is wrong with Avast. It is only "free of charge for HOME
users for NON-COMMERCIAL use"

In addition to Avast here are some more AV programs that work with Vista

http://www3.grisoft.com/doc/products...g/us/tpl/tpl01

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti.../lng/us/tpl/v5

http://www.eset.com/

My choice is nod32 from Eset. If you want free then AVG.
