renewing product key after hardware upgrade
Hi,

I have vista business installed from MSDN (my university is a subscriber)
and
I was wondering about hardware upgrades. I got the product key from a person
that manages the subscribtion.

Say I upgrade the motherboard (it's an athlon xp 2.0 machine) and WGA fails
due
to hardware changes.
AFAIK it will tell me to get a new license. How do I relicense an MSDN key
if
it happens? Can I do it or should I just get a new one from the pool of keys
that
the person that manges the subscribtion here has.

Best regards,
Maciej Soltysiak

No, it will tell you that you need to reactivate. That does not require
another key.

As a side note, I had my motherboard replaced and Vista didn't even prompt
to activate. Granted, it was the same model motherboard, but the serial
number would be different.

Aah, I get it. Thanks. I was worried that i would not be able to do this,
but
it makes sense now. The antipiracy protection would invalidate other
hardware
configurations for that product key and since there wouldn't be any, it's
fine.
