Save as removes extension
Hi all, I am running Vista and office 2007. Whenever i receive an email and
do a "save as" and try to add anything to the file name it always saves off
the file as some unknown extension.
For instance I have a pdf I receive called pic1.pdf, when I save it off as
pic it removes the extension .pdf and so the file is unable to open until i
readd the extension.
Any idea why the save as feature is doing this? Never had this problem in XP.

Re: Save as removes extension
Hi Abe,
"Save as" is designed so that you can choose the file format that you want
to save it in. If you don't want to change the format, you should just be
using "Save".

Re: Save as removes extension
I am afraid that you have made a mistake Rick. In windows mail, Outlook and
Outlook Express the only options were and are "Save As" and "Save
Attachment".

Re: Save as removes extension
That is correct so there is no save option and in XP this problem never arose
but now it does in Vista. Its really annoying so just wondering how to work
around it.
Thanks

Re: Save as removes extension
You're right, I didn't read the question fully and realize that he was
working within an email.
