To All the trolls who think Ubuntu is safe.
Why do you keep telling others and yourself you safe with Linux like Ubuntu

I thought they were Linux enthusiasts. Therre are hacks sure. But not on
the scale of the Windows OS.

Sorry, but you're getting all hot and bothered over nothing. Ubuntu
security reports include the 15,000 applications that are bundled with the
OS. Between open source code, 15,000 applications, the security paranoia
of the Linux camp, and the submission of a security patch being a feather
in a security professional's cap, you're going to get a high percentage of
reported vulnerabilities that are only hypothetical and not even close to
being exploited. Whereas, with closed-source Windows, Microsoft
is the only one who can examine the source. Also they penalize security
researchers who make their findings public, so Windows vulnerabilities
tend not to be made public (let alone fixed) until well after large-scale
attacks have already appeared.

And while we're on the subject... unlike Windows, consumer-friendly
distro's such as Ubuntu manage the applications base, too. So not only OS
vulnerabilities, but also vulnerabilities in all of the user's
applications are fixed via the same central update system.

Not if they follow responsible disclosure process. There's an
Acknowledgments section in every security bulletin Microsoft releases where
it gives a credit to researchers who have found and reported vulnerability.

This one seems quite outdated to me. AFAIK Currently MSRC does a great job
at tracking and fixing vulnerabilities and working with security
researchers. However I agree that number of exploits reported along with
vuln severity can be a factor in fix schedule.

If you ask me I'd say that currently MS is the the best at dealing with bugs
and vulns from all proprietary software vendors whose products I am or was
using.

Nothing in Linux is on the scale of Windows. Not the OS itself, not the
apps, not the user base, not the support ecosystem. It's strictly amateur
hour.

What distortion or half-truth in the person he's replying to?

Re: To All the trolls who think Ubuntu is safe.
Yet a large number of superb Windows users who run IT at banks and large
companies are using Linux to save considerable money and get the job done
very well.

Governments of cities like Munich, Germany have turned to Linux so it
certainly has its place beyond amatuer hour. A lot of these banks and
companies work for real money.
