Cannot delete Vista restored Program Files Folder
I recently changed computers and tried using Vista's backup program (Backup
Status and Configuration) to backup my old computer. When I restored to the
new computer, I restored all files to a single folder on the new computer
while keeping the old folder structure intact. I just browsed through the
folder and copied and pasted the files that I needed into the right
locations on the new computer. One of the folders that it backed up was the
Program Files Folder. Now that I do not need the folder that I restored, I
am trying to delete the files. However, I cannot delete the Program Files
folder. Vista tells me that "This folder is shared with other people". When
I go ahead and try to force it to delete, I have to continually click
continue to delete the files but it does not actually delete the files. It
gets to a point where it will no longer let me click through the files
anymore and only gives me the option to skip or cancel. I have tried taking
ownership of the folder and changing and adding permissions but it does no
good. I have also looked at the sharing tab and it tells me that the name is
Program Files but it is not shared.
What can I do to delete this folder?
Thanks,
Rod
