cleaning up Recovery D: to make room for backups? can't delete files
I just rec'd an error message that my last automatic backup to drive D
failed because of insufficient space. I am directed to delete files. I
jump through hoops, 'more options', everything - nothing seems to work. I
have the option to delete all but the latest system restore files. I
'delete' them but when I look at the D drive it is still full.
Suggestions? (I have Administrator privileges, it's my home computer. Vista
Home Premium)

If all you have are backups on D:\, you can turn off system restore on D:\.

Re: cleaning up Recovery D: to make room for backups? can't delete files
Well, I managed to delete enough files from that hard drive but that could
only be accomplished from SafeMode.
This is not a major issue but I can well imagine that many users don't have
a clue re SafeMode and will be unable to complete a back up once their D
drive is full.

Re: cleaning up Recovery D: to make room for backups? can't delete files
I had had this problem too. Same thing you describe exactly. Was on the
phone with support for a long time. Finally I figured it out after we hung
up. Reformated the D drive ... worked great!

Re: cleaning up Recovery D: to make room for backups? can't delete files
P.S. Be sure you have made recovery disks before you format the D drive!
