Missing digital signatures for hkcmde.exe igfxtray.exe igfxpers.exe
To get "Windows Media Player" to work as part of Vista Home Premium on an
Aus P5B-V motherboard +E6600 + 2GB
I downloaded the latest release 7.14.10.1147 (12.12.06) drivers for the
Intel G965 chipset from the Asus web site.

Now when I start the PC I get three prompts asking if I want to run

hkcmde.exe
igfxtray.exe
igfxpers.exe

even though they do not have digital signatures.

How can I overcome this problem either by obtaining signed versions or by
stopping them from loading. As as far as I can see they are optional.

Disable them from running as you don't need them. They are optional
components from your Intel graphic driver software.

Thanks

I renamed them and that has stopped the messages. No apparent harm.

Is there a better way of doing this? There must be an instruction somewhere
which causes these drivers to load, can I alter that instruction?

You can use MSCONFIG to disable them, or if you are handy with the Registry
Editor you can remove the entries that run them from the Registry to disable
them. Editing the Registry can result in bad things if you aren't careful
so this isn't for the faint of heart.

Many thanks. I used Msconfig. I see regedit is also included. Just hidden
from view!

I have ordered a copy of the Resource Kit which is due out at the beginning
of next month.

Maybe I will then learn how it all works.

Thanks I have found MSCONFIG and REGEDIT hidden under the covers.

I've ordered myself a copy of the Resource Kit which is due out next month.
