Documents and Settings

How do i go into my Documents and Settings folder?Every time i try double
clicking to open it, a window pops up saying C:\Documents and Settings is not
accessible. Access is denied.What do i do to access the folder?

It's not a folder, it's a shortcut. And it goes nowhere. You can
Google it for the reason.

Vista uses a different file structure than XP does/did. Those familiar
folder
names you may be used to, like "My Documents", "Documents & Settings", etc.
are not folders in Vista. They are junction points, and are used for legacy
programs which were written to utilize the XP file structure. They will
redirect the programs to use the equivalent Vista folders.
If you keep the protected operating system files hidden, you won't see them.

In Vista......
Documents & Settings -> \Users
My Documents -> \Users\youraccount\Documents
My Music -> \Users\youraccount\Music
Application Data -> \Users\youraccount\AppData
etc.

if it goes nowhere how come i was told there is a virus in that folder?I dont
understand.

The other person who replied to you gave a very detailed description
of that "folder". There can't be a virus in it because it's just a
shortcut.

I'm not sure i understand what you mean.i was told i had a virus in that
folder and thats the reason i tried going into it.if my virus scanner says a
virus is in that folder(Documents and Settings) ,How do i get into the folder
to view the problem?you said something about If i keep the protected
operating system files hidden, i won't see them.is that why i cant get into
the Documents and Settings folder?

hmm,i just looked back into my virus scanner and it shows 4 infected files
coming from C:\Documents and Settings...

Just do a search for the files you seek in c:\users\ and all subfolders.
Don't act until sure. Confidence can not be running very high with a program
that reports non-existent folders. Forget about Documents and Settings.
Better yet, get an up to date virus scanner that knows what environment it
is functioning in. Clearly, your scanner is not VISTA aware.

Thanks.i think i understand everything more clear now.What Virus scanners do
you or anyone Recommend for 'windows Vista'?

P.S. I've been using Avast Anti virus this whole time and it seems to work
fine and Avast say they are windows vista compatible.I update it
constantly.anyhow i just thought id through that in there.
