Can not type a message without cursor skipping back
When using Window Email or on the Internet typing in data in a field I find
myself typing in an area that was previously entered.

Ther cursor skips back a dozen or so characters back and I find myself
typing into something that I had previously typed.

It can't simply be the new Vista Mail (although it happens more there), it
also happens on the Intenet while entering text.

I suspect Vista itself has the flaw.

Has anyone else experianced this?

If it was in Vista I think a few million people would have complained by
now, do you have a wireless keyboard or mouse? Is it a desktop or a
laptop, have you tried another keyboard?

This could be due to a broken track on the keyboard PCB itself, possibly
a driver issue or even malware. You don't have speech to text turned
on do you?

Re: Can not type a message without cursor skipping back
I'm betting you are typing on a laptop. Am I right? If so, this is a big
problem that lots of people have, and its caused by the heel of your thumb
brushing the touchpad and generating a 'click'. It makes the cursor jump
back to wherever the pointer is at the time, which is normally the beginning
of the text field you are typing in, or the previous one.

It's a bloody nuisance, but not Vista's fault.

See if you can reduce its sensitivity. There is often a setting for that
somewhere.

I am actually experiencing a similar effect on this R51 Thinkpad; it happens
in any app and it's very annoying.

However, I believe that it has nothing to do with Vista and much more to do
with a physical keyboard problem.

To test this, swap in another keyboard. If your system is a laptop, borrow
a USB keyboard. This should tell you very quickly where the problem is.
