vista rtm mobile device center and outlook problem
I had a system that was working normally using vista ult rtm, office 2007
ult. I had outlook set up normally, and everything was working normally. Then
I installed Widows Mobile Device Center (current version Beta 3 Release).
Immediately after the first sync, I get the following popup error in an alert
that seems to come from Office Outlook:

The profile name is not valid. Enter a valid profile name.

As my outlook profile was working fine before syncing, perhaps this problem
refers to the profile on the device (which also syncs to an XP system). I
have had the opportunity to see this error occur twice, having set up Vista
twice, and it occurs in the same way each time (ie. its repeatable).

Does anyone understand what the error message would like me to do to fix the
profile name problem?

Re: vista rtm mobile device center and outlook problem
Hi,

I have multiple Outlook identities and have seen this message

A sure way to avoid it (at least, in my experience,) is to open Outlook
prior to syncing - even before you connect the phone to the computer - and
select the identity you want to sync with, etc

Re: vista rtm mobile device center and outlook problem
Just tried this, and noticed another problem. The device disconnects soon
after beginning to sync (even though it is still connected in the cradle).
I'm syncing with an Ipaq Hx2490, which can successfully sync with activesync
4.2 on XP.

Have you noticed this disconnection problem?

I haven't noticed this.

Have you tried a different USB port? Or Bluetooth sync?

Re: vista rtm mobile device center and outlook problem
I just set up the bluetooth connection. Using a new vista bluetooth driver
from broadcom, I am able to see "my Activesync" in my bluetooth places. The
connection status is 'connected', however, when I open the mobile device
center, the PDA shows as 'not connected', even though under connection
settings bluetooth connections are allowed (checked).

In the connection settings window, it just says 'waiting for device to
connect'.

Do you happen to have worked through this in your setup, or perhaps you know
of troubleshooting documents for this problem...

thanks

Re: vista rtm mobile device center and outlook problem
Hi,

Unfortunately, the best I remember is having some issues initially getting
it setup

My suggestion is to delete the partnership, and when you reestablish it on
the phone, it should say that "ActiveSync" is a service on the computer that
you can use. Enable that option
