Automatic Login of Administrator (unwanted)
Vista Ultimate

For some reason, when booting, Vista is automatically logging the computer
on as Administrator rather than to my account. I then have to "Switch User"
and log the administrator out. This is a pain the the hind portion of my
body.

I'm sure there is an easy fix. Can somebody help?

Russ

Re: Automatic Login of Administrator (unwanted)

Go to Configuration Screen - User Accounts - Disable automatic-logon

Or maybe there is only one account: Administrator.

Or, Just set a password on the Administrator account.
So you need to fill in the password before logging in.
Its also more security, Just set a password; ALWAYS.

Hi Russ,

See if you can change the account to have Vista logon to automatically
in step 6 of this tutorial.

Hope this helps,

Re: Automatic Login of Administrator (unwanted)
I got it. I went to user accounts and found Administrator highlighter.
Attempting to move the highlighted User to my usual login, I found I was
unable to do so.

I then checked the box "Users must enter a user name and password to use
this computer" and then clicked on "Apply".

I was then able highlight my login, remove the checkmark from the box, and
Apply again. I then rebooted and I, not the Administrator was logged in.

I'm glad to hear that you got it to boot to your user account now.
