My Vista PC won't Sleep!!!
I have had problems with Vista not sleeping before and had fixed the
issue however, i installed a new video card yesterday and now my PC
won't sleep again!
I press sleep it goes to sleep, then 2 seconds later it kicks back in
and loads up again! The only thing i have changed since it was working
was the video card (Geforce 8600GT).
I have done all the standard changes to keyboard/mouse, network
adaptor, media sharing etc etc but still no joy!
Please help me out, its really bugging me!

The only things I have in my list beside what you have quoted above are:
USB Flash Drives - ReadyBoost
BIOS Sleep Options
Cable/DSL Modem (which you probably have covered by your reference to
"network adaptor"
One other suggestion.....have you tried physically disconnecting the
units you mentioned above one at a time to see if you can narrow the
problem down?

Sadly I think I have tried all of these options! Yesterday i unplugged
every USB device and it still happened which makes me believe it is the
video card. Are there any settings I can on it?

Re: My Vista PC won't Sleep!!!
Have you enabled the Advanced Power Management in the BIOS settings? When
the system first starts, and before you get the P.O.S.T information (or
splash screen showing the computer brand logo) and before the Windows splash
screen with the progress bar thing.....press DEL(ete)key or the key relevant
to your system, to start the BIOS.
Then go to the APM screen and set the appropriate options, once this is
done, save the settings, exit the BIOS. The system will restart/boot to
Windows, then you can go to the power settings and set Hibernate/Sleep.
The other thing preventing it sleeping is possibly the network connection
(internet modem/router).

Well I had a play around with the 'S1' and 'S3' settings if thats what
you mean and neither did anything!
With regards to the network connection I have changed everything on my
computer to make sure that is not an issue.
Perhaps its just the drivers from Nvidia?

Hello olbell,
I know you did mention "media sharing", but I wonder if you actually
tried this :
Control Panel>System & Management>Power Options>Change Plan Settings>
Change Advanced power settings>Change Settings that are currently
unavailable> click the + sign, Multi-media settings. Click the + sign,
When sharing Media, choose Plugged In -- click the down arrow until you
see "allow computer to sleep", pick that> Apply/OK.
Let me know if it works for you.
