delete file from print job list - HP Officejet Pro 550k

My Windows is in portuguese so I don't know the correct screen names in
english. (sorry)

I try to delete a print job file from printer spool opening the printer icon
besides the system clock, spool driver says "deleting" but never really
delete! Normally I need to reboot to really eliminate the file from the list
and print a new file. Sometimes this doest work and the printer, after
reboot, try to print that file...

There are another way to eliminate a file from the list IMMEDIATLY?
Maybe deleting the temp file or something like that...

sometimes I also have to use that to cancel the job. This was with XP and
Vista

Yes, my HP has a cancel button, and it works, but just after the file has
been sent to the printer.

The problem is when the file takes so much time to be printed and I desire
to cancel it (to print another file from other program for instance) the
file is not at the printer yet.

Windows and printers often don't play well together. On some printers it's
better to just let the darn thing print unless we're talking about hundreds
of pages.

However, to get rid of jobs that are stuck in the print queue:

Start Orb>Search box>type: cmd
When cmd appears in the Results box above, right-click it and choose "run as
Administrator".

Then at the command prompt, type:

net stop spooler [enter]

Your print jobs will be deleted. To restart the print spooler again you can
just do the following at the elevated command prompt:

net start spooler [enter]

You may need to reboot.

Don't Panic!

I've only had two brands of printers, HP and Epson. Always, the HP printers
took forever when asked to cancel a print. The Epson responds promptly.

I see what you mean. That does get bothersome. Hopefully the tip from Malke
below will help.

And as David said it seems to happen a lot with HP printers. I have had
three to date and they have all had that problem at one time or another

Apparently do not work. At the promp the result is Ok (Print spooler service
finished succesfully) but at the spool printer window nothing happens.
Maybe I must reboot to complete the process.
I'll try later.

If I must reboot, is not a perfect solution, but solve part of the
problem...

Hi

There is a quicker solution with any printer, cancel the job in the queue
and then power cycle the print this will clear the job.

with XP or Vista, that works...sometimes.
But with anything from the HP C550, Lexmark Z26, Canon 1246 MFC to the
HP4100, sometimes the job sticks in the queue until I reboot.
