Norton 360
I know many of the more prolific posters here hate Symantec and their
products because of their tendency to be heavy resource hogs. However, I
have heard some rumblings about the latest round of products being better as
far as this goes.

My question (survey?) is has anyone here used the new Norton 360? If so,
what are your impressions? If you have used other similar
non-Norton/Symantec products, how does it compare?

One more specific question, do you use Norton 360 on Vista x64? I can't
believe I can't figure out if it works or not on the Symantec site but I
wasn't able to get anything beyond it is supposed to work with Vista.

Thanks in advance for your constructive feedback.

Re: Norton 360
I used the Public Beta of Norton 360. I've described it as Norton
System Works on Steroids <g>

It contains a lot of the stuff that was in NSW like defragging and so
on and frankly I don't think that is really necessary.

I now use Norton Internet Security 2007 under VISTA (and XP Pro) and it
does what I want (well almost; I'm waiting for the ad-blcoking anti-
spam extension that works in XP but is not out for VISTA yet as far as
I know -- I must recheck).

I do not find that it holds back my computing. AVG is a heck of a lot
quicker but I don't like their interface, at least not in the free
version I was using first for VISTA.

Does Norton 360 have a backup and restore program? If so, how good is
it?

You'd better check the Norton website. I think it had a retitled
version of Save & Restore. I didn't use it so I can't comment on How
good? People have different criteria anyway <s>
