Error 80070643 when installing updates (NOT OFFICE)

Hey all!

I've been having problems installing one update in Vista. When I attempt to
install Bitlocker and EFS enhancements released on 26 FEB 2007, I get an
Error 80070643. If any updates are remaining to be installed, they also fail.

I am at a loss as to what to try next. The fixes for Office do not work.

Any suggestions?

I too am also having this problem and have posted a separate thread in the
windows update forum. Do you have Office installed? I have Office 2007 Home &
Student Edition installed on my Vista Ultimate laptop

Yes, I do. I have Office 2007 Enterprise installed. I'm not certain if it
makes a difference.

I also have Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 installed. I started getting the DLA
problems after the first Bitlocker installation. Do you have that installed
too?

I'm not aware of any other updates for Bitlocker, however I have now been
able to install the update by uninstalling Office, try that and see if you
get any further.

I have the same issue on the latest Bitlocker and EFS enhancement. Sounds
like the installs we have are the same.... I have done everything I can think
of but uninstall Office 2007... That is going to far for me... there should
be a reason we can hopefully find

I agree that this is a rough solution and should be able to be solved by a
software update from Microsoft, but until then I haven't been able to find a
way around it other than to uninstall office and then apply the update, and
then reinstall Office afterwards :S

Hi guys. PLEASE PLEASE let me know if you figure anything out. I JUST
bought this new computer because I am sitting for the bar in July and my
other computer was acting up. I figured if I bought a new computer then
I wouldn't have to worry about any crashes going on during the three
days of the exam. NOW all of a sudden I'm having this problem. I have
tried everything (OES, manual, atuomatic-delay, it's started, i deleted
temporary internet files, etc., etc.) Does anyone know if failure to
install the update can cause a crash??

Do you have ZoneAlarm or Spybot or similar Spyware Programss installed?

What updates are you trying to install? Try this solution anyway. I have
seen this error created when
installing BitLocker.
