I'm glad I found this thread. I have what may be a related problem. When I
use the pin to start menu function for two MS Office 2007 shortcuts (New
Microsoft Office Document and Open Microsoft Office Document) the new
shortcuts placed on the start menu do not work. I also cannot launch either
of these shortcuts by typing in the start menu search field. Even though I
can get either one of them highlighted, hitting the Enter key does nothing
for me.
I have not had any icons disappear, though -- just the shortcut functionality.
BTW, placing these shortcuts in Quick Launch also does not work.
