Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit to 64-bit

I currently have Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit installed on my computer.
However, I have a 64-bit processor and was thinking that it might behoove me
to make the switch to 64-bit for the increased performance. However, since I
have already activated my Product Key, will I be able to uninstall my current
Vista installation to install the 64-bit?

Yes, you will be able to reinstall with 64 bit. Just remember that you can'
upgrade, it must be a clean install.

Unless you have apps that will benefit from x64, you may be not only wasting
your time, but putting yourself in the position of not having x64 drivers
for all your hardware. (Read: ur screwed in x64.)

You -have- verified the existance of x64 drivers for -all- your hardware,
right?

All of my hardware is Vista 64-bit compatible except my network adapter,
which has been the case with all Linksys products, one of the reasons I
stopped using Windows XP x64.

I will be making the switch to 64-bit Vista, but only when I get support for
my Network adapter and I have more reasons to switch. Thanks for the response!

Correct. A Vista license allows for installing either the 32 or 64 bit
version of the puchased product.

Unless it is OEM, i.e. supplied with a new PC. OEM versions are either 32
bit or 64 bit. You would have to by a new copy of Vista 64 bit to replace an
OEM 32 bit version.

Some manufacturers will supply the media for a shipping cost. Others not.
However, if you have a 32 bit OEM license and can find a 64 bit OEM media
disk, even a generic one, the license should still work. An OEM license
won't work with retail media, though, it has to be OEM media.
