I installed a new Gigabyte K8NS Ultra-939 and upgraded my processor to a AMD
64 bit AlthonX2 4800+. My question will Vital, and Office 2007 run 64 bit,
and would I be able to run Adobe 32 bit software. I have other graphic and
video software my main concern is about Adobe.
(Second Question) if Vista can be 64 bit software will I see something
better than Windows XP Pro. The second question would be for Office 2007.
I hope I made any sense in what I said,

Windows Vista will run in 64-bit. Most 32-bit software is compatible,
including Office. The Adobe apps I've tried all work too. Office 2007
doesn't have a 64-bit binary.

Yes. Windows Vista is a huge improvement over Windows XP. But if you're
going to be using the 64-bit version make sure you have drivers for all your
hardware, as 32-bit drivers won't work on 64-bit.

64-bit Windows runs most 32-bit applications. Office 2007 only comes as a
32-bit right now.

Right.

Not merely from the 64/32 bit aspect. That won't make much of an impact. But
if you are talking about from XP to Vista you should see stability and
security improvements. Some performance improvements too including fast
network (IP stack rewritten for Vista and is much faster). Games may or may
not be faster - some report some games a bit slower .. depends.

Yes, this would be a concern. One could always go 32 bit this year and 64
bit by a year from now when there are apt to be more drivers available.
Paul,
When you talk about drivers do you mean drivers for the burners, interal,
exteral drives, printers and scanners. What about BIOS would I have to try to
get an upgrade for thoses too.
btw! I do thank you for your reply, I'm seein Vista in a better light now.

Unless you have 64bit apps that you need to run, you are better advised
running Vista 32bit..

I think You All are right, go with 32 bit, than maybe a year you will see
more 64 bit software. Plus! It will give Microsoft time to fix any
bugs...(Laughs). Also You All sdaid that Office 2007 was 32 bit, which means
it's just another product to sell.
I want to Thank You All for the Advice, be assured it helpped a lot.

While I totally understand the reason behind the
response, I wonder if its not short sighted. How
will we know that in six months some killer 64 bit
app won't come out, and then we will be stuck at
32 bits in a 64 bit world? Everyone says 64 bits
is the next big thing, all new processors coming
out are 64 bit, which is wasted on a 32 bit OS.

I think it all depends on one's comfort zone. Us technophiles are a lot
more tolerant than most about apps and devices that don't work right just
yet. If someone is wavering, I suggest that they come down on the
conservative side because it just isn't useful to have disgruntled users
giving x64 a bad name. Vista x64 is one heck of an OS and will ably take
care of itself in the months and years ahead.

I Agree, Colin. I can see that some day it might be 256 bit, but not to
worry, I'll be pushing up Flowers by than. As for my question about Vista,
and Office 2007, I think for now I'll stay with 32 bit, and seat back and
watch what happens.
Again, I would like to say that You All have helpped me a lot.
