Problems Tunneling in Vista
I'm having a problem with Vista's networking. A lot of my friends who
still have XP are able to use remote desktop and tunneling services
easily, where as I am unable to on my Vista machine. It's quite
ironic cause I'd think Vista (newer than XP) would have better
networking capabilities. But that aside, I've followed the
instructions in order to install Tunneling on Vista (Since MS removed
it from Vista) by going to programs and features and adding the telnet
feature. This seemed to work somewhat, but now I'm trying to use SSH
Tunnel Client to connect to a server and I'm unable to.

Overall it seems Vista is locked up tight. Is there any information I
can get in order to open up Vista in order to do what I want to do.
I've looked at a lot of Q&A's, tutorials and how tos, but most of them
explain very basic things. What steps do i need to take in order to
connect to a server using SSH in Vista?

Thanks in advance for your help

Re: Problems Tunneling in Vista
What is it exactly that you are trying to do? Share files, copy files to
you, etc. Remote desktop and tunneling may not be necessary and overkill
for what you need...or maybe not. So what is your need?

I have a Server that we are trying to setup for our small organization
and need to SSH to it. I don't believe there is any other way to do
this as it is not a simple operation on this server. Basically what I
do is connect using SSH Tunnel Client. Once connected I remote
desktop to "localhost:3390". 3390 being the port number set in my SSH
Tunnel. I'll take a look at some of the articles, but if you have any
details specific to SSH it would be very helpful. Thanks!
