Really?
I thought dos used similar commands to cp/m but didn't actually copy the
APIs.
If you know different..

Linus however just copied the APIs and the internal functions as well as he
could.

It does eventually as it decides it can't find enough free space to write a
file even though it has numerous free segments.
I believe later versions of FAT were better but the problem was never
removed in its entirety as far as I know.
