Other than what others have said (using ALT+F4) if items on the screen are
too small, something you might want to try doing is adjusting the DPI.
Right-click on the desktop go to Personalise, and then on the left hand side
of this window you should see Adjust font size (DPI).
The default setting is 96 DPI, the next step up is 120 DPI, but if you click
custom DPI you can drag a ruler out, so you can actually set the correct DPI
for your monitor.
You'll need to reboot the machine after making any changes.
