New Key for Certificate
I have a EFS certificate that somehow got associated with files on my
computer, but the key associated with this certificate is missing and I
don't have a backup of it because I was using a different key (I thought).

Is there a way to generate a new key for this certificate that has the same
"thumbprint"?

Brandon

RE: New Key for Certificate
It's not possible to generate a new private for an existing certificate. If
you want configure EFS to use another certificate (and key) for encryption,
you can do that using the EFS wizard, which is a new feature in Vista. The
steps are in Vista's Help and Support under the topic, "Change the key you
use to encrypt files and folders."

Thanks.
