Re: Vista Calendar reminder question
Yes Vista Calendar should be able to issue reminders even when it is closed. However a bug exists in Vista where the reminders do not work properly if the user account name has been changed. If you delete the user account name and then add it back the problem is resolved. However be careful to not lose files, emails, contacts or calendar items. They can be saved and restored. You will also have to add all email parameters for email. Sometimes, when the user account name is deleted, Vista does not remove old reminders from C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\Windows\Window sCalendar. This will be noticed as an error if you open the TaskScheduler. The old reminders can be removed manually. In normal operation, a task is set up in Task Scheduler that will start Windows Calendar when a user logs on or when the next reminder is scheduled. When Calendar is closed the task in TaskScheduler is updated with new date and time for next reminder. Hopes this helps.
