Can not turn aero back on
I had a program that would not work with aero enabled. Windows said it would
turn aero off until I was done with the program. Now Aero will not turn back
on. When selected it acts like it is turning on but every time I go back to
the settings it is back to windows basic. I can no longer find the
transpancy button either. Any body have a solution for this?

Re: Can not turn aero back on
This happened to me last night. I was watching tv on WinMedia Center.
After I closed it, I was able to reset to Aero.
you might try closing all running programs first.

Re: Can not turn aero back on
Try this:

Ensure that you have the following registry values set to :

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition set to 1 (32-bit DWORD)

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPol icy set to 2 (32-bit
DWORD)

2/ Restart DWM by opening a command prompt with administrative privileges:

- Type 'net stop uxsms'
- Then 'net start uxsms'

Good luck,

Lang

Re: Can not turn aero back on

Hey Lang I have the same problem and tried your suggestion. I checked
the registry and all is good there. I go to cmd an typ in 'net stop
uxsms' but get:

System error 5 has accurred.

Access is denied.

Any clues? I am the admistrator so i'm sure it's not a permissions
problem.

Thanks
Mikey

Re: Can not turn aero back on
Try refreshing your Windows Experience Index (WEI) rating.

1. Click Start

2. In the search box, type Performance Information and Tools, hit enter

3. Click the Update my score link

4. Click Continue on the User Account Control dialog

After you have done that, Right click your Desktop > click Personalize >
click Theme > click in the Theme list box, select Windows

The OP most probably will not see your answer. His post is another leach from an outside USENET Gateway
