What backup features in Home Premium?
I have not been able to find a clear explanation of this anywhere.

Which of the backup features, available in Ultimate are NOT available in the
Home Premium version? I would also appreciate having a complete description
of what backup features ARE included in the Home Premium version.

Re: What backup features in Home Premium?
I don't believe any backup features are included
in Home Premium, except for System Restore.

Someone mentioned that you can actually get
Ntbackup to work in Vista, you have to copy over
a few files. Can't recall right off the correct procedure.

Re: What backup features in Home Premium?
Backup is available in all editions, however Home Basic does not support:

Scheduled backup of user files.
Backup to a networked PC or device.
Incremental backup.
Automatic backup scheduling.

(Windows Vista Product Guide, p. 17)

Re: What backup features in Home Premium?
Thank you for the detailed reply. I haven't yet been able to figure out how
to rate a response. Even though I am logged on, I see only the question "Did
this post answer the question" but no place to rate below your message to me.
The only place that I see "Was this post helpful to you?" is below my
original question. Thus I do not seem to be able to rate your response.

A further question: I inquired about Home Premium but you referred to Home
Basic in your reply to me. Was that reference an error on your part? Which
version are the features you listed available in?

Also, you referenced Windows Vista Product Guide, p. 17. Can you provide a
link to it? - thanks again!

Google "Windows Vista Product Guide" or go to:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

I referred to Home Basic because that is where the limitations to Backup
are. All other editions support the full feature set for Backup. I was
responding to Michael's reply,

Re: What backup features in Home Premium?
There is no "full feature set" for Vista backup. It's pretty much
featureless.

I suggest, as I know you've seen me post but this is for the OP, Cobian
Backup, free from http://www.cobian.se. I only suggest it because I use it
(Version 7) on Vista and it works. There may be others that are as good or
better, but I can only suggest what I know.

Re: What backup features in Home Premium?
I think one could call the set of all features for Windows Backup the full
feature set.

Re: What backup features in Home Premium?
Dale, have you tried Version 8 of Cobian, I'm trying to run that but am
having problems with it? Maybe I'll try v7.

Re: What backup features in Home Premium?
I'm a bit confused on this. I had thought that "Complete PC Backup" was
NOT available in Home Premium. Now, you are saying that the full array
of Vista backup options IS available in Premium. Is this definitely the
case?
