PowerPoint Viewer
Just got a new computer with Vista as O.S. The package did not come with
PowerPoint Viewer so I downloaded the 7.0 PowerPoint from Microsoft. Figured
at this point I could open any PowerPoint attachment. Wrong, it will only
allow me to open if I save it to a folder and then go and click on PowerPoint
Icon and then it shows the attachments I have saved and then if I click one
it will open. Long process to open something that under XP opens by just
clicking on the attachment. I can not open using the "open with" feature
either. What could be the problem and what can I do to correct this.
Thanks.

Re: PowerPoint Viewer
What fails when you try open_with, exactly? Can you find the viewer? You
should be able to browse for it.

Re: PowerPoint Viewer
When I browse to find PowerPoint, I find it click on it to be the default
program to open with and it still doesn not open from an attachment. I always
have to save it and open it from a folder. Crazy ................. never had
this problem with XP.

Re: PowerPoint Viewer
Your email is in the wrong 'zone' for that. Go to your Mail options, and
look for a security tab. You are probably in the 'restricted zone', and
would have to be in the 'Internet zone' to do that. (Not that I recommend
that)

Re: PowerPoint Viewer
You probably have the security set on your email program to not open
attachments just uncheck the do not open attachments and you should be ok.

RE: PowerPoint Viewer
Hello, my problem is similar to yours except there's a glitch in the
performance of .PPS.

When I open it it starts (with sound) but will not forward to the next
picture. I have found that if I go into task manager I find a "setup error"
message. If I close the message the .PPS will play correctly but without
sound.

I have tried to download a fresh version of Powerpoint but it will not load
because of an error.

Sorry to break into your discussion but i couldn't see how to start my own
thread.

Best regards,

Leo Wagner
