Backup software
Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations for backup software for 64-bit Vista
Business.

The machine will have an Intel Core Duo processor, 8Gb RAM and two 160Gb
SATA drives, and the backup device will be an Iomega 35/90 REV drive.

I've used Symantec (formerly Veritas) Backup Exec since NT4 days, but they
appear not to have a Vista version yet:
http://www.symantec.com/en/uk/small_...pvid=bewin_svr

Iomega have released 64-bit *system* software for their REV drives:
http://iomega-eu-en.custhelp.com/cgi...va=18750&p_li=

so I'm happy enough that the backup device itsef will actually work in
Vista. However, Iomega's website says that "due to major architectural
changes", their own backup products will not work with Vista...

So I'd be grateful to hear what backup software other people are using.

Thanks,

Mark

Acronis TrueImage Workstation v9.1 (latest build) works very well.

(Combined with the Server/Enterprise version, to make it more of an
automated backup solution).

Mistake. The Backup Server component is actually supplied with the
workstation version.

The Home version 10 edition seems to have everything I need...

It doesn't backup over network though, and I assumed you wanted that.

No indeed...

At the moment I don't have a need for it... However, at only $30 more than
the Home version, it might be worth getting anyway...

It certainly works fine over my home network.

I've downloaded the trial of v10 and, as far as I can tell at the moment, it
appears to run rings round Backup Exec on my WinXP Pro machine - backs up
the same amount of data in about half the time...

Should be getting my new machine next week, so I'll evaluate how it runs on
64-bit Vista Business, but I'm certainly pretty impressed with it so far...
