Auto sorting of files in folder
When I rename my pictures they automatically sort alphabetically in the
folder. I would like to know how to shut this feature off. I prefer to rename
all my pictures first and then when I'm finished renaming right click and
then I'll sort when I'm ready.

Re: Auto sorting of files in folder
Thanks for the reply. I've tried unchecking "Auto Arrange" as you describe in
an empty area of the file but it still sorts out the files (pictures)
instantly and automatically in order. I've also unchecked "Auto Arrange" in
the View Menu as well. Nothing seems to work. Vista in adament about sorting
automatically. Maybe another solution.... Thanks.

Try sorting on a field other than Name (click the column header of the
field you want to sort on). Then renaming the file shouldn't affect
the sort order.

Re: Auto sorting of files in folder
Ken, this solution does not work. Keeping the files sorted
alphabetically, but not automatically seems impossible.
Automatically sorting is unacceptable for various reasons. It is
overly intrusive and is preventing me from using and accessing my files.
Is there no other way to disable this horrid 'feature'?

Re: Auto sorting of files in folder
no, but please write to Microsoft
(microsoft.com-->contact--.Custoemrsupport-->contatcs--.email) and complain
SUCH THAT SOON TO BE RELEASED WINDOWS7 WILL FIX IT!!!
if people like us dont complain, hundreds of thousands others who suffered
remain silent because they think 'someone else should bother complaining",
then nothign will be fixed.
i already wrote to MS, now you do the same please.
Automatic resorting drives me insane to a point I might replace WinExplorer.

Ken, as you can clearly see by the thousands of viewers, this is a major
concern and clearly needs to be addressed ASAP. Please refrain from
eluding the topic at hand and come forth with an acceptable solution.

Re: Auto sorting of files in folder
Ken, you unwillingness to aid has caused great strife in the community.
I will be gathering enough signatures in a petition to terminate your
position.
You were given ample time to resolve this issue. There is no excuse
for your unprofessionalism. Your career has just been destroyed. Good
day.

You are a moron.
You are replying to a post made over a freaking year ago.

The severity of the issue has only grown since this thread's inception.
All the more reason to quell this massive 'auto sort' burden. If you
do not assist in its speedy resolution, then you must desert this thread
immediately.
