blue sreen

Computer blue screens when faxing. I've tried BVRP,RKS,And SnappyFax.
This happens at the time of dialing. Running vista pre,2mb mem
Could I have a bad modem or maybe some other hardware problem.
Does microsoft have a web page for stop messages not code messages?
