how do i remove 'dead'apps from Control Panel?
I've had a nightmare installing Cyberlink suite on my new Vista PC.
All sorts of problems.
I've uninstalled, but the apps still appear in Control Panel.
If i try to remove them I get The InstallSheild engine (iKernel.exe) could
not be launched
No such interface supported

Is there any way of getting rid of these 'dead' apps?

Many thanks
Pete

There will be an entry for each one in Control Panel under

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall
(Start > regedit)

Find the relevant entry and delete it from the left pane.

Create a System Restore point prior to that, if you're unsure what you're
doing, in case of errors.

You can download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility which usually
does a good job. It's free, and from Microsoft. 'Take a look here.'

Thanks - I tried it, but it didn't identify any cyberlink products.
Cheers

That's only relevant if it was installed via an
MSI file. TweakUI, I think, has a function to
remove those entries. I don't think there's a
Vista TweakUI yet, but the XP version should
be the same thing.

Jon's Registry key posting will work if you feel
comfortable with the Registry. The Uninstall key
is where Add/Remove Programs gets its information.
