My vista notebook takes a little while too, but one of the improvements
people are talking about for the upcoming SP1 is that it is supposed to
speed up boot, shutdown, and logon times. The link Andre gave has some great
info on speeding up everything in a safe way too. I have done pretty much
all of this and I would still like a little more speed, but I think that
Vista SP1 will answer that.
