Office 2003, Office 2007 and Vista
Certain reports and letters in our online system are designed to call MS
Excel or MS Word inside a browser window. While this works great with Office
2003 or Office 97, the default settings for Office 2007 cause an issue. By
default Office 2007 file types called by our system open the actual Office
application, either Excel or Word, instead of opening in a browser window.
While this poses no issue on the built in letters or the first level of a
report, it does cause an issue with report drill downs. For example, if
Office 2007 is installed, clicking on a numerator or denominator in a report
will call a new browser window and generate an error message saying that you
must be logged into view that page. To fix this, you open Windows Explorer
and select Tools from the menu. Then select Folder Options. Once the Folder
Options opens, select the File Types tab. Scroll down to the XLS Microsoft
Excel 97-2003 and select it. Then click Advanced. When the Advanced tab
opens, check the box flagged “Browse in same window”. However, if you have
Vista installed once you open Folder Options,, there is no File Types tab.
How do I apply this fix in Vista?
