Printer won't print
Howdy
One of the few things my wife's new laptop, with Vista, did right from the beginning was print. All of a sudden it won't print. We use a wireless hook up. I have rebooted the wireless router several times, rebooted the computer, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer (HP 2510). Would appreciate any suggestions. Thank You rlmslo |

Install any programs or new drivers between the time it would print and now?
Got restore points to which to revert? RE: Printer won't print
I'm having a similar problem with an HP PSC 2410. If we take a power hit or
the wireless router hiccups for any reason, Vista won't see the printer when it comes back up. According to Vista, the printer is 'Offline', even when the printer very obviously is not. The only solution I've found is to remove the printer and reinstall it via the Add Printer wizard. I've seen this problem on both my desktop and my wife's laptop, both running Vista Home Premium. Both machines are fully patched, and we're using the default driver included with Vista. I don't think the router is the problem since the printer works fine after I remove and re-add it in Vista, plus I can browse the internet while the printer is 'Offline' from both a wired and wireless connection. That leaves the printer and Vista as the source of the problem. We didn't have this problem under XP SP 2 (and believe me, we had lots of power hits), so that leaves Vista. Does Vista have any problems in detecting a potentially changed DHCP address? I don't remember if the printer has a static IP in the router, I may try that and see if the problem gets fixed. Also, how does Vista find or refresh wireless devices? That may be the source of the problem; if Vista can't dynamically update a previously found wireless device, that's pretty bad.
