Replacing System Builder software?
Does MS provide a replacement service for System Builder OEM media? It'll be
good to get an integrated SP1 DVD once it's available.

Thanks in advance!

No, that is the OEMs responsibility for replacement of damaged media. You
will be able to easily create a slipstream SP1 with your existing Windows
Vista media using a blank DVD and burning software. If you have access to
the SP1 BETA, you could give it a try now.

Re: Replacing System Builder software?
I found a "MS Media Replacement Form" somewhere on MS' site. I've got a copy
of it, some of the text is shown below

This form is to be used by End Users to acquire replacement media in the
event that Microsoft software CD(s) originally purchased through a System
Builder is defective, damaged on receipt or during installation, or
misplaced. Additionally, an End User should only use this form when they
are not able to obtain replacement through the System Builder from whom they
originally purchased the software.

Microsoft is not responsible for software lost during original shipment from
your System Builder to you.

Microsoft will replace one version of originally purchased software with one
genuine OEM version of the same* software, PROVIDED that:

• This Microsoft End User Media Replacement Form is to be filled out in
English only. Please note that ALL fields are MANDATORY, unless stated
otherwise.

• The Certificate of Authenticity (COA) number provided with the originally
purchased software is provided. Your Certificate of Authenticity (COA)
label should either be located on your PC, or on the CD media. Your COA
number will be validated to ensure your originally purchased software is
genuine software. The COA number can be located on the COA label, below the
product key and under a bar code.

Format: 00000-000-000-000

For more information on locating your COA number – see
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/h...=Compare+N ow

• If unable to provide COA number for validation, you will need to submit a
photocopy of your original invoice, along with a dated sales receipt to
validate proof-of-purchase.

• Replacement: 1 COA number supplied = 1 set of CD(s) for the software
product being replaced.

*If the software version requested is no longer orderable, due to a
service release, it will be replaced with the most current version of the
product, if available. If the software version requested is a retired or
obsolete version and no longer available for replacement, it will not be
replaced and your credit card will not be charged.

Presumably this could be used to order a Vista DVD containing SP1 once it's
available? This seems to only be useable in Europe, Middle East or Africa.
