What is the option "Lock this computer " that is in the menu that pops up
when a ctl alt del is accessed ? I don't find any reference to this option
from Vista help.

A simple Google search revealed this:

"When you use the lock option, other people can't use your computer or
see your documents. This can be useful if you need to be away from your
computer but do not want to log off or put your computer to sleep, for
example when you are going to lunch. If you lock the computer, only you
or an administrator can unlock it."

Hi David,

"Lock this computer" is the same option as "Lock" from the Start menu
next to the power options (Arrow). This takes your computer to the logon
screen and locks your computer without logging you off. It prevents
anyone from accessing you computer until you type your logon again.
Lock is handy for a office environment or where there are people you do
not want messing with your computer while you just get up and do
something away from the computer for a moment. It lets you leave
everything running and secured, then returns where you left off when you
log back on.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: Lock this computer

But what does it mean when you lock your computer and when you log back
in there is only a black screen and not much you can do to fix it. Ive
tried Safe Mode and returning to save point and repairing and everything
i can think of. Any hints?

Re: Lock this computer

Hi Dunk,

Welcome to Vista Forums. arty:

Does restarting the computer help any? Make sure that you have the
latest video driver. If you do, try reinstalling it to repair any
corruption. If that does not work, then do a Repair install.
