Sleep & Shut Down Issues
When my system attempts to go into sleep mode, or I attempt to shut it down,
the system hangs and a loud fan turns on and the system becomes unavailable.
The only way to resolve this is to unplug the desktop and plug it back in and
reboot the system. This happens everytime I try to shut down or put the
system to sleep. Any thoughts?

Re: Sleep & Shut Down Issues

don't know if this is what happened to you but I had pretty much the
same symptoms and it turned out to be a ram issue. I found that by
removing the sticks and trying them in different configs I was able to
find the bad stick.

Re: Sleep & Shut Down Issues

Steve,
This may be related to the problem I posted yesterday but I'm new to
this forum and don't know how to direct you to that thread which has
several replies with advice. Try doing a search for "sleep"
if that doesn't work for you, send me an email at hughtee@tx.rr.com and
I may be able to help by that time.

Re: Sleep & Shut Down Issues
hughtee,

Thanks for the reply. I have traced the problem to a corrupted BIOS on my
motherboard of all things. I flashed the BIOS and the problem has been
resolved.

Thanks again,

Steve
