When I try to use certain 3rd party utility programs I get the:

"Open File - Security Warning" popup,

Followed by the:

User Account Control: "An unidentified program wants to access your
computer"

Each time I have to click:

Allow - I trust this program, I know where it's from or I've used it before.

There is no "Always allow option"
Is there a way to add these programs to an " I Trust this program" list so
that I'm not harassed each time I want to use those programs?

Thx

Re: Allow - I trust this program??
My guess is that there may some new 'signing' of the programs with Vista. I
just loaded TurboTax which always seems to play by the MS gamebook. Firewall
did not know who the program was from and blocked ALL aspects of it. I had
to go in and add permissions for each component. How half-assed is that?

For that matter, I tried to send a link from within IE7 and was waiting for
the mail client to come up. It didn't and I found that the firewall (this
time mcafee security suite) had blocked any winmail.exe actions. The
annoying part is that I never got a prompt whether to allow or deny any
action.

You'd have to hunt and peck (either within these groups or on the Internet),
but you have several choice to "get around" this. The most obvious, is
disabling User Account Control. If you are the primary user, and trust your
own instincts, then turn it off. Also, there's a way to "disable" certain
messages. I'm sure someone knows the complete set of instructions.
