iSCSI Shutdwon Issues
I decided to play with iSCSI and liked it enough to keep using.
I don't reboot much so it didn't appear to be related to iSCSI until I did a
lot of checking.
The computer will hang at the "shutting down" screen forever until the power
button is pushed.
If I log off from the the iSCSI tareget first the computer
restarts/shutsdown normally.

I'm using Vista Ultimate and a FreeBSD iSCSI target.

Sounds like some of the storage stack related request(s) never get(s)
completed... Did you try to use other iSCSI target? Just to isolate
the issue.

No I didn't try another. It's a FreeNAS server I've been using for quite
awhile. I only tried since it was built into Vista.
I don't have another target.

Re: iSCSI Shutdwon Issues
If you're not willing (or cannot) swap the target try swapping
initiator =) The only one I know for Windows (except
MS one of course) is StarPort from Rocket Division Software. Here we
are:

http://www.rocketdivision.com/port.html

If you'll have the same problem with the shutdown it could be some
filter driver causing problems (anti virus, logical
volume manager, snapshot agent etc).

Re: iSCSI Shutdwon Issues
Swapping targets is not really an option. I did update FreeNAS to a nightly
build with a newer target but haven't tried shutting down, I updated late
last night.
I did isolate AV and firewalls I switched and even removed both to try.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: iSCSI Shutdwon Issues
I've told to swap INITIATOR and not a TARGET
