Password auto fill?
I am running Vista Ultimate. I would like to know if there is a way to
assign short cut keys to automatically fill in passwords. Ex: I hit Ctrl + t
and "xxxxxxx" is automatically typed into a form. I suspect this might
require a 3rd party program - any suggestions?
TIA

Re: Password auto fill?
If you are asking if it can be done throughout the operating system, no,
thats a security risk. But in the browser (Internet Explorer), it can be
done by going to Tools > Options > Content > (AutoComplete) > Settings >
under 'Use AutoComplete for: 'Forms', 'User names and passwords on forms'.

Re: Password auto fill?
Thanks Andre - I have those all checked. Some sites do not allow the
''saving'' of user/log in info or passwords - ex: Verizon Wireless, L.L.
Bean and most bank sites. I have to type one, or both, in every time I
access the sites. I was looking for a software program that would create a
macro, which I could assign to a keystroke combination, to fill do it
automatically.

So - when I go to XYZbank.com and hit Ctrl+u (ex) it types in my user/login
name and then Ctrl+x would type in my password.

Sorry if my explanation is lacking - I know know what I mean ;-)

Re: Password auto fill?
I think the reason why such sites require you to type in the password is for
security reasons.

Re: Password auto fill?
I think you are right on the security - but they wouldn't know if I were
doing the typing or a really cool "quickie program" ;-)

Re: Password auto fill?
It is insane what you are thinking of doing re: your finances, through
laziness!

Forget the Bank's security.

It is about infection in YOUR computer.

What do you think Keyloggers, Trojans, etc do?
They mine your info; and if you have it sitting there neatly to be plucked;
WELLLLLL

Re: Password auto fill?

I have my passwords and logins printed out. The contents of this file
are stored on a usbkey not the computer. The idea of storeing valuable
information in this day and age on an online storage device all the time
is not good. If a virus was to get onto your computer (Not always the
users fault) you could be putting yourself at a loss. The computer
world is the biggest profits for criminals.
