Event Viewer snap-in missing/broken
I get "MMC has detected an error in a snap-in and will unload it" when
I try to open the event viewer in Vista Home Basic. Then I get a
window with...

FX:{b05566ae-fe9c-4363-be05-7a4cbb7cb510}, Item has already been
added. Key in dictionary: '' Key being added: ''

....followed by diagnostic info. I've googled this and see a few others
with the same problem, but no solutions. I reloaded an Acronis image
of my system partition from a month ago, and the problem was there,
too, so I don't know when this first began.

Any suggestions?

Larry

Re: Event Viewer snap-in missing/broken
Bump!

As additional information, I installed and ran a program called
PCWizard (http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php), which has event viewers
as one of its many features. They show *many* (perhaps thousands?)
application, system and security events with various dates in January,
2007. I bought the system in April, 2007, and details shown for some
of the events include my account name, so these dates must all be
wrong. Not sure this is relevant, but thought I would incude it.

Any assistance in how to repair the Event Viewer would be very much
appreciated.

Larry
