No system sound But winamp works perfectly

Got a strange problem here
My system sounds when i plug in a usb device ect.. dont work
in some games the sound is completely gone in other games it works perfectly
if i play a mp3 file i can hear the music
i reinstalled my sound drivers but that had no effect
so im pretty sure its a setting somewhere

if any1 has a solution to this or some helpfull info in finding the problem
i'd apreciate it

What audio device and PC model do you have? What version of Windows are you
using?

and its a SoundMax

and btw my sounds where working perfectly till a few days ago

Cool, ok I'll have a think but in meantime you could try a system restore to
before the problem occured or have a look on Manufacturers' website to check
for updated drivers or reports of this problem.

i got 6.10.01.6110 even newer then urs from the asus support site
and a system restore dont work
so im really sure its a damn setting
tried to reinstall the drivers like 20x already
uninstall reboot reinstall

ah and if i open youtube on the net i dont hear any sounds aswell
