The Chinese Vista from MSDN, is it identical to the retail version?
Is activation required for MSDN downloaded version?

Re: Vista downloaded from MSDN
Yes it is the Chinese Retail Version of Vista. Product Activation and WGA
(Windows Genuine Advantage) Validation is Required if you are using a Retail
Product Key, and WGA Validation is still Required even if you are using a
VLK (Volume License Key), Just FYI.

Re: Vista downloaded from MSDN
Hi,

Activation during certain period of time will be required for any version
and consistently being re-verified (as same for the activation purpose) will
be also required.

Hope that helps.

And one more friendly reminder, don't use your real email address in public
forum/newsgroup unless receiving spam messages including potentially
virus-included ones is your pleasure.

Re: Vista downloaded from MSDN
so what you mean is that, the MSDN version is exactly the retail DVD
version, am i right?
ok, the admin of pconline.com.cn has started a bit-torrent p2p thread and
public download for the MSDN Chinese vista is now available.
the question is, does MSDN version come with a MSDN product key that can be
activated unlimited times?
and, what is MSDN anyway?

by the way, that forum admin is going to

Re: Vista downloaded from MSDN
Hi,

My knowledge about MSDN's product key does not qualify me for commenting
anything about it.

My limited knowledge is it seems no product key can activate "unlimited"
times.

And for your own benefits, you might not want to discuss torrent p2p in
here.

For more MSDN info., check this out:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx and I'm sure you can find
localized site from with this main site.

Hope that helps.

Re: Vista downloaded from MSDN
The Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) supports developers through a
subscription program.

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx

The MSDN copy is the retail dvd image. The product key is a retail product
key, meaning the product may be tranferred to a new computer (not OEM).
MSDN subscriber product keys may be activated on a maximum of ten machines.
Reactivation on a machine does not count. The MSDN website is the final
authority.

If you are not yet a subscriber (sure doesn't sound like it to me), be aware
that the license for MSDN downloads does not permit Vista to be used for
personal or productivity purposes. An MSDN subscription is not a means for
running Vista on your personal computer for free or until the retail copies
hit the shelves.

Janet,

Maybe you may wish to not consider using obviously pirate distribution
of MSDN software.
The only authorized place to access MSDN product for use on
development system only - so not for day to day use is to pay your
subscription fess and download directly from the Microsoft MSDN
distribution servers.
The fact you are also then asking about "does it come with a product
key" also implies you may be looking for pirate software.
Of course there are keys for the MSDN distributed products but you get
them from your MSDN site that you sign into with your appropriate
credentials after you pay for your subscription.

I apologize in advance if you are not actually looking for pirate
software.
If you are a developer looking to understand more about MSDN
subscriptions and pricing please see

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/zh-cn/sub...s/default.aspx (China)

http://softbbs.pconline.com.cn/topic.jsp?tid=6446593

You may visit the link above. This morning, the admin of Vista forum in
pconline.com.cn
has already host two version of MSDN Chinese vista (32 / 64) in their server
and ENCOURAGE the public to download.

Just few minutes ago, the download have spread over 20 Chinese IT websites.
So what I believe is, within 7 days, nationwide download should be
available. Things like that is very common in China.

You may feel free to report it to the anti-piracy department of Microsoft
although i don't think it help anyway since the Chinese government doesn't
care about this at all.

FYI, I have nothing to do with www.pconline.com.cn
