Error loading OS after VISTA RTM installation

After I installed VISTA into the 2nd primary partition on my system (1st
primary is XP) I do get the message error loading OS. and nothing boots. I
can fix this if I place a bootable CD in my drive (I tried the XP
installation and the VISTA installtion CD/DVD). It just needs to be there but
I prevent it from booting, and fall through to my 3rd choice of boot, the HD.
Boot order is floppy, cd, hd.
If I fall thru to the HD i do get the VISTA boot manager and all is fine.

What can I do?

Hi Darrell, do not laugh but all of this I have alrerady tried with no
success. Even changing the boot order to HD first does not help!

You updated your bios and tried all the hard drive configurations that are
available in the bios?
You amy want to contact your vendor to find out if there are other people
also reporting this issues to make sure there isn't a bios update that
isn't available.

All that is happening is that the OS starts teh boot from teh DVD, then
passes control to the hard drive.
So we start reading from the hard drive not from where the bios tells us to
read from the hard drive, but where control is passed to.
It is possible that there could be something in the MBR or Bootsector that
is preventing Windows Vista from correctly booting.
