Gordon, I'm not sure I understand your question or what the hosts file
has to do with anything. It would have been helpful if you had provided
the "certain URL" for others to check. Normally when you go to an URL
and get the Apache test page, it means that the web server that is
hosting that webpage (the URL) has not been configured correctly. Unless
this is your own web server, it has nothing to do with you at all.
Since you can get to where you want to be by putting the IP address of
the webpage, perhaps the URL you have is incorrect. If this happens to
you with other webpages, I would say that you have a DNS problem. If it
doesn't, it is likelier to be with that particular website. Perhaps
*they* have a problem with their DNS. Perhaps contacting the webmaster
of the site would be a good idea.
