I replied earlier today but for whatever reason now I don't see my post on
the server so maybe you didn't see it either.
Anyway here is a recap, and I think this is something you should definitely
try:
Apparently Vista's "auto-tuning" networking feature doesn't play nice with
some routers. Not sure if it is a bug in Vista, or a bug in the router
firmware. If you google "autotuninglevel" you'll find a lot of info about
this feature and that it has caused problems that sound very similar to what
you describe.
Try this:
- Click start
- Type: cmd
- Right-click cmd.exe when it appears under Applications
- Click Run As Administrator
- Type the following: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
- Press enter
- Restart your computer
