Re: Acronis True Image Home
I'm not the only person having problems with Acronis True Image. Take a look
at one of the reviews on tigerdirect.ca:

Re: Acronis True Image Home
I would not even begin to repair a PC without first creating an image of the
system prior to the repairs - one that I was totally comfortable with to
restore said image. The program I trust is TrueImage HOME!

Regardless of what problems some are having. TrueImage HOME works for me -
and countless others. I suggest you contact Acronis and take out your
displeasure with them.

Re: Acronis True Image Home
I have used ATI 8-9-10 - no issues. Version 11 is not as good. It asks for
the OS CD upon reboot.
I returned to version 10, build 4942, and plan to stay there.

Stay away from this product. I bought Acronis True Image 10 Home from
tigerdirect.ca and installed it on my Vista 64-bit PC. I took backups
regularly - once a week. I never bothered to verify the integrity of the
backups. When I did, the product always reported that the backups were
corrupt. By this time my 30 days for getting a refund from TigerDirect had
passed. So, I contacted Acronis who told me to upgrade to a new build that I
can download from their website. Same problem with the new build - corrupt
backups. Acronis said they couldn't give me a refund since I didn't buy the
product from them. I contacted TigerDirect who told me that they can't give
me a refund either since the 30 days have passed. The product is useless to
me now.

Another problem with this product is that it doesn't play well with Vista.
Once you start a backup task, you can't change it's priority. You always get
an error message saying you don't have enough privileges to do this.

And I received an email from Acronis a couple of days ago saying I can buy
the new version 11 at 40% off. Some consolation.

Lousy product. Lousy service from the manufacturer and retailer.

I don't want to belittle your experience, but I have used Acronis True Image
for a long time, and find it to be the best imaging/backup software I have
ever used. I consider it an essential piece of software and I've highly recommended
it to many users.

Re: Acronis True Image Home

Excluding V2i Protector (which Symantec bought, ruined and pillaged
parts of into Ghost), Acronis TruImage is the best choice out there
right now.

Re: Acronis True Image Home
I did contact Acronis. They were arrogant in their attitude.

They released version 11 of their product and said users of prior versions
can upgrade at 40% off. I don't think that's fair. I should get a full refund.

Re: Acronis True Image Home
I have 10 GB of RAM on my PC.

And about elevating privileges, UAC kicks in and True Image says you don't
have the privileges to change the priority of the backup task. And this is a
feature of True Image - once backup starts, you get a little icon in the
notification area that supposedly lets you change the priority but it can't
(because of UAC - I think).

I did download a new build per their suggestion, but that didn't help
either. I'm facing the same problems. I'm running build 4942.

Re: Acronis True Image Home
Well I guess we can only wish you better luck in future, someone said
V10 is better and that's what I have been referring to by the way, I
don't have a later one.

I think the opinions given here show that most are surprised at your
results, especially the "Corruption" thing - which still leaves me with
some questions about a hardware issue, but really no idea what that
might be.
