Self extracting files will not run
Hi, got a new PC fresh vista home premium install. Any self extracting
install files just will not work. I just get a message the the program has
stopped. If I move to my old xp machine and run the file exe, it extracts. I
move extracted files back to vista and then they install. This has happen
with 4 different files. One of the files (support for nikon NEF file
extension) vista downloaded itself but still the problem happens. Am I
missing something somwhere? I can't find anything on the net about this.

Try right clicking the self extracting file on the Desktop and select the
'Run As Administrator' option.

Re: Self extracting files will not run
I have tried that and still get the same result. I have tried compatibility
modes and checked permissions and still get the same result. I tried to
download winzip to see if I could unpack the file and run it but winzip is a
self extracting file and I got the same problem. Google earth install file
will not run either. Very frustrating because It is really causing me problem
and I can't move away from my old XP PC that worked fine!
