Re: Didn't Realize How Good Vista Was Until......
I Have Vista Home Premium running on a 2 year old Dell Inspiron 6000 and it
works great. What all of the MS Vista bashers forget is that most people
that are using any os do not come to these forums. So their assertions that
Vista is bad and anyone that likes it is a moron is totally wrong. They are
the same people who would not believe anything you say no matter what.

Countless people who have purchased and installed Vista have problems
that Microsoft has acknowledged as real problems. A FACT you and other
fanboys always choose to ignore. You have no concept of reality.
This picture clearly describes Jupiter, most other MVPs that post here

Re: Didn't Realize How Good Vista Was Until......
If you go read the Windows XP newsgroup and see all the problems people have
you would think XP is a terrible OS that is completely unstable. We all know
this is not true and most of the problems are created by the people
themselves or their hardware. I suspect many of the problems discussed in
this newsgroup are similar.

You ignorant POS!
You only see what you want to see, you block out what you don't want
to see, or hear or speak of. Ignorance is your bliss. Which explains why
this entire ng constantly laughs at you're stupidity.
The point is you who claim to be "mr computer expert" does nothing more
than take cheap shots at everyone and anyone who actually knows more
than you. And that is most users.
You're nothing but a fukkin idiot loser who can't even get one little
install of Vista business to run correctly and you're only answer it to
blame MS.
Grow up as*hole! Many of us have multiple installs of Vista running
correctly so your problem is between your brunt out brain and the keyboard.
Idiot!

You are welcome to run whatever operating system you prefer. I
certainly don't want to try to persuade you otherwise. Nevertheless,
your list of what's needed to run Vista without a problem is far from
correct.
1) you have compatible hardware
Of course! You can't run anything if you don't have compatible
hardware for it.
> ...and a new computer.
My computer is not new, but is two years old.

I run a pretty extensive amount of software. It's mostly all the same
software I ran under XP, and it all runs just fine under Vista. The
only exceptions were a couple of minor utilities that wouldn't work at
all, but I can easily live without those.
> 3) You use Vista in a very limited conservative fashion..
I do *not* use it in a "very limited conservative fashion."
> 4) You make backup images of the whole OS, so even if something gets screwed

I image the entire drive regularly. That's good practice regardless of
what operating system you run.
However I have *never* needed to use any of the images I create,
because nothing has ever gotten screwed up.
> But in the real world all the above does not happen very often...
Nor does it need to, as I demonstrated above.

RE: Didn't Realize How Good Vista Was Until......
Vista runs much faster than my 3 XP machines... and those 3 machines run
pretty fast.
Vista is running faster than XP in every application including surfing the
net. Yes, I have Vista running on a new machine (more memory, faster
processor boards) and my XP machines are running on slower machines (2-5
years old), but for all the features that Vista offers, XP can't match Vista
in performance.
I am slowly adding software to my Vista machine in case any new software
interferes with Vista OS. Plus this gives me time to explore all the features
of Vista So far no software has given Vista OS any problems. Vista seems to
be able to take care of itself. The only problems I've had so far with Vista
is that the latest Media Player wouldn't properly play some of my old WMV
files that were created by older software on my XP's. (MP couldn't
fastforward the files without error message and crashing MP.) I solved that
problem by downloading GOM player to play any WMV files that the new Media
Player can't do properly. The MP has no problems with movies, vob files and
most of my home videos that I had created on W Movie Maker. Other than that,
Vista has been a champ.
Overall, I'm glad I got Vista. I still use my XP machines because they get
the job done, too. But in the future, I'll phase out my XP machines and will
be moved into Vista.
With a lot of the criticism that is thrown at Vista I think that the
critics' problems stem from faulty hardware or user abuse such as deleting or
changing files that should be left alone.
Viva la Vista...

Of course it appears faster on faster hardware with more memory, is the
XP machines have < 512 they would likely improve too, especially with
Movie Maker et al.

Nobody here has a problem with that as long as you, the user, is happy
with it, comparisons between chalk and cheese notwithstanding.
> With a lot of the criticism that is thrown at Vista I think that the

Now you really are sounding like a fanboy. Blame the hardware
manufacturer or label the user who has a problem with it an idiot.
Do you (for example) not see a problem with the fact that every "New and
improved" Media Player actually plays less and less of your OWN stuff?
By your own admission you can't use it. Do you not see a problem with
having to phone Microsoft and ask for your car keys back when you
replace some broken part of your vehicle? Do you not see a problem with
Microsoft being able to sneak into your house through the back door and
take away your car keys because they decided that maybe you stole the
car for no reason at all?
These are the realities of the now built in spyware that's DRM, WGA and
Activation.
Do you not accept that criticism of things people feel are bad for
Microsoft can be constructive, whether it is intended that way or not?
The people hardest hit by these things are legitimate users who are NOT
computer geeks but ordinary people who have bought and paid for systems
that don't work well for them.
I entirely support Microsoft's right to screw things up for themselves,
but I do not think they should attempt to take legitimate users with
them, especially such users who don't understand why they are having the
problems thet are having.

So logically then, there is a large percentage of users, of any OS, that
have lots of problems that are never heard from here ?
That argument works for both sides of the camp.
