when i try to webchat with someone, i can see them and hear them, but they
can only see me, not hear me.
does anyone know how to fix this?

If you want to communicate with sight and sound across the internet, get
yourself a a decent headset (headphones and integrated boom mic).
Plantronics make some very light and very good headsets.
