Games automatically minimize and stay that way after updates

I just updated after about 3 weeks or so of being offline, and now when I try
to start
a game, it automatically minimizes.
When I try to restore it, it goes back, and never actually SHOWS the game.
This happens with every full screen game I try.
(So far Simpsosn hit and run, freedom fighters)
Whats going on here?
I've tried restarting and running in compatibility modes.

I've had no real issues with vista.
Randomly get illegal action, now closing after exiting a game normally,
didn't really bother me,
but now vista is really starting to piss me off.

Running on a brand new HP Pavillion 1.6ghz dual core, home premium, nvidia
geforce go 6150 graphics card.




One last thing that i noticed was stupid,
IE7 blocks the pop ups on microsofts own site to post this
i thought something was wrong with it before i noticed popups were blocked
sorry, but i just thought that was really stupid.

I've noticed games tend to switch to minimized after starting recentrly, but
I haven't had any trouble clicking on them in the task bar and getting them
to work.
